Junior Java Developer (Student / Internship Opportunity)

Role Overview

Cyber64 is looking for final-year students (FER, FOI or related technical faculties in Croatia) who want to start their career in professional Java development.

This role is designed for students who already have solid foundations in Java and web development and want to work on real enterprise systems, not just university assignments.

We are looking for students who have already:

  • Built several side projects
  • Published code on GitHub
  • Experimented with Spring or similar frameworks
  • Deployed applications beyond localhost
  • Taken initiative to learn outside of formal coursework

You will join our development team and gain hands-on experience working on real enterprise systems. You’ll start by contributing to Java-based backend development, collaborating with senior engineers, and gradually building the expertise needed to work on enterprise CMS & eCommerce solutions.

This position is available to students based in Croatia only.

We also offer a structured student internship (praksa) with a clear path toward long-term collaboration.

Near full-time availability (minimum 30–40 hours per week) is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write clean and maintainable Java backend code
  • Contribute to web-related tasks (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
  • Participate in feature design and implementation
  • Work with Git, code reviews, and modern development workflows
  • Collaborate closely with senior developers through mentorship
  • Gradually gain exposure to enterprise CMS & eCommerce systems

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of Java and OOP principles
  • Solid basics of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
  • Experience using Git
  • Several real, hands-on projects (GitHub, freelance work, hackathons, personal apps)
  • Ability to independently research and solve problems
  • Strong motivation to grow as a professional software engineer

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Spring or similar frameworks
  • Understanding software best practices, design principles and patterns
  • Basic knowledge of CI/CD concepts
  • Familiarity with testing practices (unit or integration testing)
